Ariana Grande gave Thank U, Next another personal update during the final show of her Eternal Sunshine Tour in London on September 1.
During the performance, Grande changed the familiar lyric about former boyfriend Ricky Alvarez. This time, she sang a new line suggesting she is trying to make him her last, adding a romantic twist to a song originally built around lessons from past relationships.
The lyric change reflects a new chapter for Grande and Alvarez, who previously dated in 2015 and 2016 before reconnecting years later. Their renewed relationship became public during the summer of 2026, with the pair also appearing together on social media.
Grande had already experimented with the same section of Thank U, Next during earlier tour dates, occasionally changing the words to reflect her current connection with Alvarez.
Ending the tour with another revised version gave the song a noticeably different meaning from when it was first released in 2018, while keeping the moment tied directly to Grande’s personal life.
