A new animated feature could bring another entertainment legend to the world of voice acting. Reports indicate that Cher is in discussions to join the cast of Fly Squad: First Strike!, an Australian-produced animated film focused on a community of insects facing a major environmental threat.
The project centers on three insect heroes who set out on a mission to find a cure for a toxic substance that endangers their species. According to details released about the film, Cher is being considered for the role of the main character’s mother. The environmental themes and focus on species protection are said to be among the reasons the project caught her attention.
The film may also feature another notable music figure. Reports state that Bob Geldof is in talks to voice a legendary insect rock star who organizes an event known as “Insect Aid,” a nod to the charitable concert efforts that helped define part of his career.
The animated comedy remains in development as producers continue to assemble the cast and secure additional support. A release date has not yet been announced.
